Google Announces "Device Assist" app for Nexus Devices

Today Google announced a new Google app called Device Assist. It's purpose, according to Google Play:

"Google Device Assist provides tips and proactive troubleshooting to help you get the most out of your device."

    • Get proactive help with detected issues (GPS, connectivity, battery, etc.)
    • Get tips to explore new features and improve the performance of your device
    • For Nexus and Google Play edition devices, gain easy access to live Google support

The App is currently available to US-based Nexus, Google Play edition and Android One devices running Android 5.0, Lollipop.

As best I can tell, this app doesn't support rooted Nexus devices.

The app detected no problems on either my 5.0 N7 2012 or 2013. It had no suggestions for my N7 2013 and only suggested adaptive lighting for the N7 2012. My N7 2012 tablet is still in a world of hurt and my N7 2013 could use some help as well. It's a good idea but not very useful at this early stage of development.
