Dead Tablet -- Won't Finish Booting

    Hi!

I use my Nexus 10 a lot and I rely on it. Yesterday I woke up and tried to use it as I always do, but it shut off. Now I can get it to start booting, but it never finishes. It fades in and out and then goes black. The battery is full. Is there any hope, short of taking it to a shop?

I appreciate any suggestions. I really need my tablet, and I don't have money to buy another right away.

    Denise

    Hi Denise!

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about your Nexus 10. I would suggest you try seeing if you can reboot it to recovery mode. This link explains how. If you are able to boot into recovery mode, I would suggest you try using the function to 'wipe cache partition' and then the 'reboot'. See if you can start your Nexus 10 then.

    Thanks

Thank you. I tried it. It said it was downloading (but it did not say what), then it started flashing, went dim, and turned off. I think it is a hardware issue, but I will try again a few more times.

I guess there's always the possibility on a Nexus 10 due to the vintage of the device, that the battery could be failing. Do you see the same behavior if you run with the power adapter attached instead of just running on battery?

Wiping the cache partition from the recovery mode should not download anything.

There's another option in the recovery menu to factory reset your Nexus 10. If you decide to do that, be aware it will delete ALL of your data/pics/music, etc.

My 10 boots and runs pretty well, but only when plugged into power, the battery basically is only good for an hour... Maybe.
Has other glitches with rebooting occasionally when playing YouTube videos too, I'm guessing it's 5yr old parts, was awesome for a good time.
Hope yours is simply a fixable glitch.
