Unhappy Nexus 4 Stopped Vibrating For No Reason

After 1 month of caring use, my Nexus 4 suddenly stopped vibrating. Device never fell and wasn't hit. I had my call set to vibration and ringtone no longer my device vibrate. I tried following:

    1. Restarting
    2. Holding Power Button to enable vibration only
    3. Downloading Power Toggles application to configure vibration

How should I proceed from here?

    Thanks.

Assuming it's not a hardware issue, a factory reset should get rid of any app that might have effected it.
If that doesn't remedy the problem, it's hardware..

Since it is unrooted, there will be a lot of hassle of backing up data and settings...
Maybe I should upgrade to Android 4.3 first? And before upgrade, do I need to backup?

    You're right.
However, if it is hardware, they'd do a reset as part of the repair process in most cases, and if you called tech support, one of the first things they'd do is have you do a reset.
    Same end result.

There is an app called Helium on the PlayStore that uses your device and PC to back up settings, data, etc.
Success rate of restoring is spotty, though.
Best you can do is copy any important documents, media, etc to your PC or a cloud based backup.
The PlayStore or Amazon AppStore will "remember" purchased and free apps so you can reinstall them.
I would seriously consider any pre-existing data lost, and feel lucky if Helium can restore it.

I don't think that I'd do the update if there's an existing hardware or software issue.
I'd always backup anything important before updating the OS, as things can and do "go wrong".

All of this is prefaced by your deciding what restoring the vibration is really worth to you in the scheme of things and what you're willing to try to fix it.

    Just my 2, though.
I'm certain that others will weigh in.

You might try a vibration app first, this should tell you if it's a hardware issue or not.

Thanks. I need to backup the following:

    Phone settings
    Contacts
    Email accounts
    Home screen widgets and icons
    Chrome-tabs and bookmarks
    Dolphin browser-tabs and bookmarks
    City Maps2Go
    Rmaps

How do I do it manually? In case of City Maps2Go and Rmaps, these are GPS navigation apps that store their map data offline. Should I backup those maps too or I will encounter problems when restoring back so I better download again later? Thanks.
