    Ear phone jack compatibility

Hi, It seems that certain 3.5mm plugs are not created equal. Some of my headset/ear buds work and some don't. Kind of a crap shoot to find the right size. If they don't "click" when plugged in they don't work in my experience. Maybe not long enough? This is in regard to my Nexus 5 phone.
Has anyone known about or experienced this issue? Are there two sizes/types of 3.5mm plugs. Suggestions?

Are you using a case on your phone? I found that the case I use on my phone impedes the jack from going all the way in. I just made the hole in the case a bit biggr and it works fine now.
