Question About OTG Performance on Nexus 7

Hi all guys, I have an irritating problem about the use of OTG performance. I have bought usb3.0 hub SDXC SDHC SD card reader combo with OTG adapter last week. I once got it working with my Samsung Galaxy Tab and Nexus 5. All things went smooth. But when my brother plugged the OTG interface into his tablet Nexus 7, his tablet started to read the data on my micro SD card slowly.( 4~6 MB/s ). More seriously, before all done, the tablet suddenly shut down automatically. We tried a few times with the same results. Also it seems not complete data can be read.
Never had I encountered such an issue. Is it related with the storage volume of devices or others? Was anybody once faced with the same puzzle? Any idea is preferred.

I always use Stickmount by Chainfire. It works flawlessly.

Some devices require a powered usb, I can run my 2TB HD on all my Nexi, but it requires that a powered usb to be plugged into the OTG cable. I have heard of issues with some OTG cables not being universal on all Nexus devices, this could be an issue with the one you chose, it looks nice though. I simply use this cable, I believe it costs more to ship than it costs to buy... http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Adapt...ords=otg+cable
Good luck, where there is a will, there's a way.
The Nexus Media Importer app is another option, as Stickmount may require root, another subject for another post.

From the aspect of functions, it has much limited space in practical use. Though some devices like ( phone Razor Maxx ) need the external power supply when using the performance of OTG. It is destined by the phone itself. It could not output the power.
