Thank you for the info. If it hasn't updated on its own when I get home from work, then I'll try it this way. Were there any ill-effects?

It says "repeat steps 1 - 5" How many times do I need to repeat?

Doing this I was able to force the update download, but the update would not install.

    Get the following two errors

E: failed to verify whole-file signature
    E: signature verification failed

    Tried unsuccessfully 4 times.

Upon a little research I think it may be because I have CWM flashed. I think I may just wait until AOKP updates to a 4.1.2 based ROM instead of going through the hassle of reflashing the stock recovery or flashing the factory image 4.1.2.

well it didn't quite work for me, but after 10 tries, I force stopped, cleared data, powered my N7 off, then on restart - it asked my if I would share my location with Google, saw my GPS come on, and when I went to go to Settings, got the update begining... Thanks for your tip!! Beats hitting "Check for Updates" all day long!!

Last night my Nexus 7 just asked if I wanted to update, I clicked "yes" and it went into a download and then shutdown and re-boot. Now it is 4.1.2, didn't do anything else.
