    Podcast Question...

Hey all! Was interested in getting into podcasts but I think I need some help... First of all was wondering what are podcasts with video called? Webcast? Second, where can I find some good podcasts (free preferably) about Android news and technology in general... ? Third, can I stream podcasts or do I have to DL them? 4) is there a program to manage downloaded podcasts? And is there a site to find and choose from lots of different subjects?

I would appreciate any and all advice on podcasts as I am eager to try them out and also podcasts with video...

I hope I don't sound like too much of a newb but I think it is high time I learn about this feature cause it sounds like a great way to use the N7 when not in WiFi range.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. how much space do podcasts generally take up on the device? Thanks again.

    1) They are just called Video Podcasts. They don't have a special name.

    2) There are TONS. My personal favorite is All about Android. To name a few more: Android Central and Android Police. All are free and have video counterparts.

    3) You can do either with any podcast manager I've used.

    4) Pocket Casts. It might be pricey but worth it. Cloud syncing of podcasts, easy and smart playlists, etc. You can even hit the Discover tab and find podcasts based on subjects. Doggcatcher has also had a lot of success as well.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: Just saw your PS. 60 minute Audio takes about 30 mb and the same time video takes about 400 mb

    Podcast Question...

Thanks thunderbolt_nick! I will be checking out those podcasts you recommended today. Yesterday I found that droid-life has them but only audio... Downloaded one from them and one from Engadget (also audio only) and plan to listen to those as well. It will be nice to have video ones too though. Thanks again... and thanks for all the other advice too.

    Re: Podcast Question...

BeyondPod is my favourite, there is a free version with a few restrictions. It can sync with Google Reader, which is a plus.

Size depends on the encoding rate. Talk shows are often 64 Kbps which is about 30 MB per 60 minutes, and music shows at 128 so twice as big, but but can be up to 320 Kbps.

I don't know about video ones. NASA call them Vodcasts which is nasty.

*lol* I can't believe I forgot that one. I was trying to remember what in the world the app was called and it was nagging at me all day.

BP is an awesome app for podcasts as well. I did love the GReader sync.

Also, if you are aiming for free podcasting apps, AntennaPod was pretty good and has an amazing design. Unfortunately, it is still in beta...so that can have complications. Also, if it comes out with an official release, they may charge for it.

    Podcast Question...

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions! I'm starting off slow... Have downloaded and watched All About Android (the one about MWC) and the latest Engadget and Droid-Life audio podcasts but have not listened to the audio ones yet... I'm using my PC though (for now) because I need to clear up some space on my N7. I will try the Podcast managers suggested when I have more space on the device. All About Android is great! I'm going to try Android Central next. Thanks again everyone!

I noticed when watching All About Android yesterday, that one guy on the show seemed to have a Nexus 7. Now I am watching the latest show and it is indeed an N7... He says so on the show. I just thought that was pretty awesome...

Ron is awesome and he also is a comic buff. He's had that N7 since release I believe.
