Cool Picked up a new 2nd generation Nexus 7 this morning!!!

Pre ordered it @ Best Buy yesterday and they sent me an email stating that the intended release date had been changed to today. Immediately canceled my online order and reserved one at my closest Best Buy store. Picked it up at 10:000 AM when the store opened.

    Initial thoughts:

The weight reduction - while seemingly not that significant on paper - can really be felt when handling the tablet. I didn't expect it to feel lighter in my hand(s) but it definitely does. Also has a nice solid/quality feel.

Speed & fluidity of the tablet in general is better than the original N7, but to be fair the original N7 I have (only about a week old) is very speedy. I'll be playing with more apps during the day to see if that holds true.

The included USB data/charging cable is too short IMHO - just like the original. The actual charging wart is different than the original, but about the same overall size.

The screen is a lot brighter than the original - a big improvement and very noticeable.

I saw in a report that where the original wart is 2.1A, the new one is 1.3 or 1.5A.
    Can you please confirm?

If true, would that mean a slower charge?

    Hi:

Please let us know if it's compatible with OTG and Nexus Media Importer?

    Thanks,

    Tom

If my math is correct, yes.
Since the Gen2 supposedly has a smaller (10%) battery, its odd that they'd reduce the charge rate by 25% or so.
Unless it's due to the micro USB being shared for media output.... IDK.

My OG N7 charger block says 5.0V 2.0A on it.
The new N7 block says 5.0V 1.35A on it.

Yes, I've checked and both work with the new N7.

Here's my "scientific" test... at 3:05 pm today I plugged it in at 19%. When we left the house at 3:30 pm, it was at 30%, when we got back at 6:01 pm, it was charged.

So if the rate between 3:05 and 3:30 was consistent (.44% per minute), then it should've been fully charged right before we got home, or pretty darn close. That .44%/minute probably sped up a bit through the middle of the charge though. So, not too bad I guess...

Congrats on the new Gen2 N7... I have been reading review after review and they are definitely priced to sell quickly. I must say the reviews look very promising.

I love the N10... but this new N7 has caught my attention.
