    Question Unable To Access Internet

    Hi,

I am unable to access the net because, having tried various locations [including my home], the same message is displayed: "Authentication problem."

Turning wifi on/off does not help & because I cannot access the net I cannot backup using Google servers. I fear doing an "auto restore" will delete the apps & one of them would cost a fair amount to replace.

Perhaps someone has had this problem & overcome it?

    Operating system 5.0.2.

    Hopeful thanks,

    V

Have you tried this: Settings > Backup & Reset > Network Settings Reset

Thank you for your reply Jim. Unhappily, I've had a problem with laptop as well & resorted to a factory reset. This has not improved matters & now after switching on a screen appears with 'Welcome' & choice of language, moving on from this screen the next indicates 'Select wi-fi network' which then displays 'authentication problem.' There is a 'skip' option indicated on the lower right hand corner which does not do anything.

If you have any further guidance, I should be most grateful.

Which Nexus 7 do you have? Is it a 2012 (no camera on backside) or a 2013 (camera on the back too)?? You mention a problem with a laptop, is it also having probs connecting to your wifi ??

    Hi Jim,

No camera on back. Problem with laptop resolved & caused, I believe, by a windows "filthdate." Problem with Nexus wifi remains in different locations & I took it out yesterday to a country area without detectable wifi signals & it remained stuck on wifi page.

    Thank you for your time.

I'd recommend you go into 'Recovery' and wipe your N7's cache - this won't delete your data, but it will clear some of any possible crap out of your N7. Here's a link that describes the process. If that doesn't solve it - we'll try a few other things. Just so you know, the only wifi frequency the N7(2012) supports is 2.4Ghz, and most newer routers are using 5Ghz. What wifi router do you have?
