Google Services Battery Drain... Nexus 7 2nd generation

Similar issue comes and goes on my S4... Not sure if it's simply a bug with this new google services app or not... It doesn't make the battery life horrible, but I've done very little besides some tinkering since I got it, so I would've expected more than this. Tablet is awesome, though!

Some say turning off/disabling Google Now helps.
Others have had success turning off 'background data'.

I'm hoping to figure it out without doing that... I love Google Now, and have never had to turn off background data in 4 years and many Android devices!

Thanks - if it pops up again, I'll give that a go. I had read elsewhere to uninstall just the Google Services update then let Hangouts force the update. That didn't work on the S4 (I'll try yours next), but did seem to work on the N7. Going on 2 days without charging it (not a ton of usage obviously). Don't have it with me or I'd give some more detailed stats!

I gotta say, battery life on this thing has been pretty awesome. I can't' remember how it compares to the original N7, but it hardly drains at all when I'm not using it, and holds up well when I am.

It's a LOT better. No numbers yet, but, quite a marvel considering a faster CPU and smaller battery.
