    security?

Hi - I don't mean to dominate this forum but I'm learning a lot.

Is anti virus security necessary like with Windows? All I've found are sites to back up the data.

Also to get the app of the day fr Amazon, it looks like I need to keep "apps fr unknown sources" enabled...is this OK/safe? Thanks.

    Quite an eye opener.... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&g...roid+antivirus

You can either toggle that on and off as you use the AppStore, or only use the PlayStore and the AppStore and leave it on.
Unless you get apps from 'other' sources it should be safe.

IIRC, TiBu also requires it being checked for correct operation...

I would not worry about getting a Virus. Android is a Linux Operating System.. Your chance of getting a virus is slim to none.

I would be more concerned with wakelock holding apps.. And background CPU burners.

Wakelock detector is free in the Play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...kelockdetector

GSAM battery monitor is also free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...m.gsamlabs.bbm

Both of these apps will help you determine which apps to keep and which ones to nuke.

Like with any piece of tech that accesses the Internet, know what you're downloading! If you will be downloading from 'other sources' like danvee mentioned, then you might want to get an antivirus just in case or if it just makes you feel better. It isn't really necessary though if you are just downloading apps from the Play Store or the Amazon App Store (like you mentioned). They have an internal security process that stops any kind of malicious apps from entering the Play Store. However, sometimes they can make mistakes like any other human, so just be wary. Read the app reviews and do a little research before you hit that Install button. Amazon just asks for that 'Apps From Unknown Sources' option because they are 'outside' the Play Store so you're ok leaving that on if you are just using it to download from Amazon.

Hope that sheds a little more light for ya.
