    poor response

I was out in the sun & had a hard time getting it to respond. Why would it be variable or is that just how it is? Does the temperature matter? I just use a soft cloth to keep the screen clean - is that enough? Thanks.

    Never experienced that. IDK..
Microfiber for cleaning, and always a screen protector.

I've used Zeiss lens cleaning wipes and love how they clean the screen.

+1 Always screen protector + some type protective case.

It could have been a thermal protection circuit throttling the CPU. I'm not positive that the N7 has that circuit, but it sure sounds like that is what happened.

Just to present the other view on screen protectors:

I have not used a screen protector since my Fascinate. And I have yet to get a significant scratch on the screen. (I bought a Stenheil screen protector for the Charge but never installed it)

    The progression: Note 2 - Nexus 7 - Player 5.0 - Charge - Fascinate

There are a few scratches, very light, on the Fascinate. The screen has to be off, the screen clean and hold it just right to see them.
The Charge has exactly one mark on it. About the size of a pointy end of a pin. Any smaller and it wouldn't be there. I had no idea it was there until just now when I checked it.
If the Player 5 had a scratch before I sold it, I never noticed it.

The N7 & Note 2 are pristine. I just checked them to be sure.

These did not lead protected lives. No cases with covers, and rarely carried in anything but my hand or in my pocket.

BUT there is no downside to a screen protector either. I used the Steinheil Ultra Crystal on the Fascinate, and after I installed it i never noticed it was there after that.

A little tip I picked up from working on guitars. If you don't have some kind of moistened screen wipe, use your breath to fog it up a bit. (on vintage guitars you use the most gentle cleaner first, and warm breath is what you start with)

I always take those 'the sky is falling' articles with a grain of salt. They pop up after the release of any device that has high expectations.

Any reason you can't return/exchange it? (I'm assuming 2013 device since you linked to that article about the 2013)

Did that change after shutting down and restarting?
Does it do it on all apps or just the browser?

Yes I can still return/exchange it, but now it's functioning again. I have a couple of days to decide & I don't really know what to do. My concern is that if It didn't respond one time, it may again. I didn't restart it at the time - didn't think about it as i'm still new to tablets. Don't know if that makes a difference or not? Thanks for yr response.
