    Nexus 9 Frozen On Google

    Help please!

I have a Nexus 9 with the latest version of Android. Today I downloaded an update and that's when the screen has locked on 'Google'.

I have pressed the buttons to obtain the command screen which at the top states Device locked followed by Fastboot, Recovery, Factory Reset, Simlock, Image CRC, Show Barcode and RAM test.

I've tried some of these including Factory reset but to no avail. Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

It was for 'security' issues. I can't be certain but looked like previous update requests.

    Hope that's of some use.

Sounds like one of the monthly updates from Google. Since you've already factory reset, your data is gone, but is sounds like your bootloader is still locked. If you have never enabled Developer Options and turned on the option to enable the bootloader to be unlocked (enable OEM unlock), you can't unlock it, so about the only option you have right now is to sideload an OTA file, which is signed by Google's private key, so it does not require the bootloader to be unlocked. It sounds complicated, but it's really quite easy. This guide explains it quite well. Kudos to 'Techno Bill' for the writeup:

Thanks for the info. I followed the bootloader to item 5 but for item 6, my pc Win 10 did not find my Nexus 9 so I could not continue. Feeling depressed now!

@Ronel, all is not lost - it just sounds like your Windows drivers are not quite right for your PC to see your Nexus 9. Not to cop out on you but I run Linux so I'm probably not going to be much help there, but you can find "Techno Bill" over on the Google Nexus Help Forum. I suggest you start a thread there, something like "Ping Techno Bill - Nexus 9 Frozen on Google" and explain you have followed his Nexus 9 OTA guide until step 6 where it fails, and I'll bet he'll help you. If not the crew over there will help you further. Don't give up!

Thanks Jim for your trouble - I've started a thread. I've also connected the Nexus 9 to a new Lenovo laptop - it didn't get identified there either.

You're welcome @Ronel - did you try what @ggrant3876 mentioned as a possible solution? Also, be sure to try a different cable.
