Many of you have already received your Nexus 6P. Mine won't arrive until Friday, and it won't be in my hands until Friday evening since Google shipped it to the wrong address and refuse to make it right. For those of you that do have the device or will have it soon you we be delighted to learn that their is already an official build of TWRP recovery for your device!

TWRP will allow you to flash supersu to gain root access. You will also be able to flash roms and other customizations. The only downside to this is that it does not yet support decryption. That feature should be added soon. In order to install TWRP you will need to be bootloader unlocked. Grab the recovery from the link below.

From multiple sources we have heard that folks are starting to be charged for their Nexus 6P pre-orders. That is highly suggestive that Google plans to ship the devices out soon.

So far, these reports are all in the US, which is probably unsurprising. We suspect that Nexus 6P smartphones should start showing up on doorsteps within a week or two, so be sure to watch out for yours.

The latest device to go on iFixit's surgery table is the Google Nexus 5X. The LG-made device scored a solid 7 out of 10 on their repairability scale. Here's a quote with their summary, but be sure to hit up the source link for their full video and write-up:

  • Nexus 5X Repairability Score: 7 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair).
  • Many components are modular and can be replaced independently.
  • Standard Phillips screws means a driver is easy to find.
  • The battery isn't immediately user accessible but isn't too challenging, or too adhered, to replace.
  • Fused display assembly–glass and LCD will need to be replaced together if one or the other breaks.
They must have performed their dissection on October 21st, because they playfully included several "Back to the Future" DeLorean toys in their screenshot. Clever and funny!

We are big fans of the new Google Nexus 6P smartphone here at GoogleNexusForum.com. The new Huawei-made device has impressed us in so many ways, it's hard not to be enamored by it. We know that many of you have already pre-ordered the device. We thought it would be useful to compile a few handy tips for you to help maximize your experience when you first get the device.

Obviously these are not exhaustive, and there will likely be a ton more that you will figure out yourself once you get it. In the mean-time, though, these tricks should help get you started. Enjoy!

First and foremost, be sure to head over to our dedicated Nexus 6P section for further discussion, advice and input regarding your new Google smartphone.

Second, when you get your Nexus 6P, remember that it's important to use the power adapter that came with the device most of the time. Because the adaptor is a (5V/3A) device, it is the only way you can use the QuickCharge 2.0 feature built-into the phone. You can use other charging adapters, but it will simply take much longer to charge. Of course, to use different adapters you will need to pull out the included 6-inch Type-C to Type A cable.

Third, don't forget to secure your new Nexus 6P with fingerprints, pattern, PIN, or password. We recommend the fingerprint option as the word on the street is that the fingerprint recognition sensor and software in the Nexus 6P are fast and reliable. Handily, you can even use the fingerprint sensor to make purchases on the Google Play store, which is our fourth recommended tip.

Fourth, as we mentioned in the last tip, you can use your fingerprint sensor to make purchases on the Google Play Store for an extra layer of security. Here's a quick rundown on how to set that up:

  • Open the Google Play app.
  • Select Settings in the navigation drawer
  • Find and check the Fingerprint authentication box
  • The first time you use it on the Play Store it will still
